Hypothyroidism – how to know if you have an underactive thyroid

  • First and foremost – vitamins! Make sure that you are taking a high quality multi-vitamin that contains iodine, zinc, selenium, iron, vitamin D and vitamin B.
  • The hard part – cut out all gluten. If you have already been diagnosed with Hashimoto’s then try going completely grain and legume free.
  • As difficult as it might be get your required 8 to 10 hours of sleep a night.
  • Control your intake of cruciferous vegetables - these are vegetable like broccoli, cabbage, cauliflower, brussel sprouts and kale.
  • Learn to deal with stress and support your adrenal glands. Your adrenal glands and thyroid work hand in hand. A good way to help support your adrenal glands in coping with stress is through yoga and adaptogenic herbs (like ginseng).
  • Make sure that your daily diet excludes fluoride, bromide and chlorine.
