How do you know if you are suffering from leaky gut syndrome?

Leaky gut (or intestinal permeability) has been intensively studied for the past six decades. Health practitioners are well aware of the impact that this condition has on almost every part of the body - from a mental, physical, and emotional perspective. Yet many are still treating the symptoms instead of trying to understand the underlying problems which are causing them.

This process places the adrenal glands under increased stress, which can deplete the body of adrenaline and disrupt other hormone levels. This can lead to burnout, irregular menstruation, and uterine issues.

Unusual weight gain, or weight loss along with blood sugar issues can also manifest themselves. Weight gain? Absolutely. Leaky gut can increase the probability of insulin resistance, which often leads to weight issues and diabetes. An increase in the number of fat cells from low insulin can result in an increase in the hormone leptin. This hormone is responsible for disrupting your body’s hunger signals – leading to you eating more.

If you have been diagnosed with any type of autoimmune condition, that is a key indicator of a leaky gut.
